Computer Science Activities

At UND, you will find yourself in a department that encourages social activities that involve the faculty and students. The department hosts luncheons, picnics and supports 3 student organizations (ACM, ACM-W and UPE). The college also sponsors several social activities each year. Finally, the university also hosts several social functions per year.

Annual Spring Scholarship Picnic: The department (along with corporate sponsors) holds a picnic every spring to award scholarships to our students. Most of the faculty, students and graduate students attend as well as the Deans of Aerospace.

Annual Graduate Orientation: The department holds an orientation every fall to welcome back our graduate students. Most of the faculty and graduate students attend as pizza and pop are provided via the department's alumni funds.

Here is Tom O'Neil addressing the gathering.

Something was funny!

Teaching Assistants: Here's a photo of some of our graduate teaching assistants in the 'TA' office:

More TA's (After test woes).

ACM: Here's a photo of Kris Zarns (graduate student and ACM president) in the ACM office (P.S. we had to wait to take this picture until after they "cleaned" the office):

ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest: The department participates in the annual ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest by sending several teams to Lincoln, NE. Here we are having dinner in Lincoln preparing for the "big day."

MICS Programming & Robotics Contest: The department participates in the annual Midwest Instruction and Computing Symposium (MICS) Programming & Robotics contests by sending several teams to wherever MICS is held.
